A Theater Experience Beyond the Norm
Renaissance Theater Works is Milwaukee's only women-founded, women-run theatre company. The theater is quite small, with about a 50 people maximum audience capacity. On this note, because of the size, don’t expect a huge theatrical performance. However, what they provide, and with skillful actors and actresses, it makes a visit to a show well worth it. In the past, I’ve seen a two man show here, which focused on racism and poverty. I’ve recently seen a show entitle “Fat Pig,” which also had its own taboo, looking at society’s viewpoint of plus size people. I can definitely say that both plays were intriguing, thought provoking, and caused a great reaction from the audience. You always know a play is good when there are both outbursts of laughter or snickering hatred. [more] |
