Playa Higuericas
Playa Higuericas is another beach that I have been to quite regularly, which is located within the municipality of Pilar de la Horadada. It is nice fine sand and quite long stretch of beach, which is very clean. Between March and October, tractors are out very early cleaning and smoothing out the beach ready for the days tourist activity. The sea is a pleasant turquoise sort of colour here, nice and safe and clean to swim in. The resort in my opinion is popular with both Spanish and other European (mainly British) tourists. It is a reasonably quiet resort. I personally like my beach areas quiet and prefer to visit out of season. If you like wild and noisy resorts, do not come here. I like the open spaces that this beach has to offer, plenty of room to sunbathe and swim without affecting other holidaymakers. There are a number of beach bars that are erected during the holiday season that offer all the usual drinks and snacks, along with the usual ice creams etc. There are plenty of free parking spaces right next to this beach and there is a nice boardwalk to have some exercise after sunbathing. Beyond the car park, there is an urbanisation that is growing, but it is not out of place and does not spoil the area. If you like, quiet, nice resorts, like me, this is a great place for a holiday.
