Natural History Museum in London
I love the London museums, not only because they are beautiful and have incredible works of art and history, but that almost all of them are free! The Natural History Museum in South Kensington is no exception. In front, in the winter, there is a decently sized skating rink. That you have to get reservations for, because it fills up quickly. There was no wait for any of the exhibits except for the dinosaur bones, which are in a separate section. There are some very cool exhibits with lots to see and lots to learn. The museum can get crowded with school groups, but it's still worth it. You can take photos in the museum, which isn't always possible in museums. I was a fan of the giant replica blue whale. It's life size and takes up an entire room. It's very impressive! There is also sections on modern life - global warming, pollution, climate change, etc. which was very informative and interesting (though slightly scary). Overall, there is really something for everyone. Leave at least a couple of hours to be able to see everything, and then extra time to wait in the separate line to see the dinosaur bones. Many of the exhibits are interactive; it's not just standing and looking at things, there's stuff to get involved with. The museum takes up an entire city block. The main entrance is on Cromwell Place. It's open every day from 10am to 550pm. [more] |

The very interesting Natural History Museum
One of the most interesting museums of London is certainly the Natural History Museum. The museum is very interactive and there you can see fossils of animals, rocks, minerals and meteorites, and you can also learn much more about the evolution of the Earth. The highlights for me are the section of dinosaurs and mammals, and the earthquake room, where I could feel the Earth moving in a simulation of earthquake. The collection of Natural History Museum is rich in history and entertains not only the kids but also the adults who come to visit the gallery. Moreover, the architecture of museum in South Kensington is amazing. The admission for permanent collection is free, but the museum also has very interesting paid exposition. [more] |

Beautiful architecture and designs at the splendid Natural History Museum
Although the Natural History Museum is world famous for its fantastic display of dinosaurs fossils and marine life, as well as the fun loved-by-children T-Rex I have always been fascinated by the splendid interior-exterior architecture of this building. I visited a few times, first with my 8 year old nephew who love all the dinosaurs but found the long queues a bit tiring. Specially the dinosaurs section gets too overcrowded. Also the insects section is very interesting. I love the huge wonderful staircase and ceiling designs. Details that may escape to more than one just looking after their children. But it is worth the visit, and the long queuing, just for a moment to sit inside and contemplate the beautiful designs. A must do! [more] |

T-Rex Encounters
London’s natural history museum in South Kensington is world famous for its superb collection of fossils, flora and stuffed fauna. Housed in a distinctive Victorian building in the heart of London’s museum district and close to South Kensington tube station there are galleries dedicated to insects, the human body and dinosaurs. The dinosaur hall is particularly popular with visitors and includes a full size animated model of a Tyrannosaurus-Rex with displays discussing the hunting, eating, reproduction and biology of these monsters. There are often long queues to enter the museum at the main entrance so my top tip is to walk around the corner on Exhibition Road and use the side entrance. [more] |

Natural history museum
All the main museums in London are free to visit except some exhibitions and so is this one. Natural History museum is in a beautiful old building and it is just nice to wonder around. The hall when you walk in is very impressive with big dinosaurus skeletons on display. The museum covers all the possible things you can imagine in nature, at least I felt like that and generally the exhibitions are really good and interestingly displayed. Museum holds lot of exhibitions, such as wldlife photographer of the year. Those cost something but usually under ten pounds each. My favorite museum in London. [more] |

Natural Histroy Museum
So after we had eaten our dough nut and drunk our tea... we entered the Museum... the way we decide to go here first was because we had bought the London Pass for everyday of our stay except the day of our arrival and the day we were leaving... since most part of the day would be spent traveling. This Museum is one of the few free attractions in London and really worth watching. The doors are guarded by several security guards who check your bags before entering... not really thoroughly but they they try. The Museum is huge and probably one of the things that amazed me the most was the huge dinosaur right at the entrance... It made me remember the film "One night at the museum" The Museum has some really amazing exhibits divided in several areas... and it is big enough to spend a whole day watching at everything. Natural History Museum - London
The Natural History Museum is an excellent place. It houses some amazing collections of Dinasour bones, fossils, stuffed animals (these are all old and the museum no longer actively collects dead animals), geographical information etc. Plus the whole place is absolutely free, which is amazing considering the quality of some of the exhibitions and the no doubt immense running costs. My favourite bits were the Earthquake simulation and the dinasours. The Dinasours are housed in a magnificent part of the museum - just look at the architecture! There are a good number of cafes and restaurants with great selections, the gift shop is a day out in itself! Definately reccomend for all ages, but fabulous for youngsters! [more] |

The T-Rex
The dinosaur exhibiton is the best in the Natural History Museum (in my opinion anyway!) When you walk into the museum, you will be greated by a large dinosaur fossil, It's really coole! It gives you a good idea of how big these animals were and the type of animals they were. The best bit of this exhibition is at the end. You will have walked round lots of dinosaurs and read loads of interesting information about each of them, before you arrive at a real life T-rex. Well... it's not actually alive! It is a reconstruction of it and it's actually quite scary. It feels like it's looking you right in the eye and is ready to pounce. It does move... [more] |

Natural Science and History Museum
These museums are situated on Exhibition road in South Kensington. You can take the tube to get to the South Kensington station. Natural Science and History museum are a must if you are traveling with children, however even if you are not, it is such an interactive experience you do not want to miss it. There are dinosaurs and bugs, zoology and botany, there are buttons to press and exhibits to touch, rockets, steam engines, anything and everything that you were probably mesmerized with when you were a child. When I was there we have actually went on a dinosaurs safari, but there was an earthquake room as well and the collection of bugs was astounding. It might be a bit silly to trek over, however if you have a morning to spare and its raining nothing will beat the experience of Natural Science and History museum. And if you feel yourself swaying and wanting to go to Madam Tussauds, did I mention the admission is free for Natural Science and History museum? It would not be a bad idea to check the museums' website to see if there are any special exhibitions that might be of interest to you or your little ones. The Natural History museum is open Mon – Sun from 10:00am until 5:50pm, while the Science museum is open Mon – Fri from 10am until 6:00pm. [more] |
