Løgumkloster Church; it was a monastery and now is a church
Løgumkloster (Danish) or Lügumkloster (German) which both mean Logum Monastery was used as a Cistercian monastery for centuries, but not any more. It was built in 1225-1325 and is located in the area called Løgumkloster, that’s why it is called Løgumkloster Church or Løgumkloster Abbey Church. A lot of tourists always get confused by the name, because the word “kloster” in Danish and German means monastery and the area is called Løgumkloster (not only the church). There is no entrance fee to get inside the church. In fact, we didn’t see anyone in the church. So, any body just can get in. There are some small statues inside a room (I don’t know what it is called) and they look interesting to me, because they are not statues of Jesus, Mother Mary or saints. On the other side of the church, there is a big yard with nice view. I think one part of the church is used as a Sunday School, because I see a lot of kid’s paintings and it looks like a classroom.
