Church of Our Lady Before Tyn

 stars
Those black towers looming over Staromestske Namesti? Part of Kostel
Panny Mrie Pred Tynem (Tyn Church). One of the most famous churches in
Prague, this is worth a walk through for saints and sinners alike to
check out the striking gothic architecture and the amazing tombs held
within. The side streets around Tyn are also fun places to stop into,
including a classical music shop whose wares can generally be heard
from within the church. [more ]

The Church of Our Lady Before Tyn

Maybe if this church had been placed in a different location it wouldn’t have been this impressive but it the current circumstances it is fabulous by day and striking by night. It is located in the Old Town Square and it is surrounded by numerous old baroque buildings that are not even half its height this factor contributing to the impressiveness of the church. The first thing that most people say when seeing it is just “wow”, breathtaking indeed. Be careful that it is open only from 10 -13 & from 15 – 17 and only during working days, so try getting there at least 30 min before closing time because the lines are impressive. [more ]

Beautiful church. I love the small stores located at the foot of the church of Our Lady before Tyn, they really have the best classical music, make sure to go through them. At night the church has lights shinning giving an enchanted feeling. I love the Old Square and every piece belonging to it, every single building gives a special touch to the place. The best view of the church is definitely from the Old square tower. Check out for concerts taking place in the church, services are at 4:30pm Monday to Friday, 1:00 pm on Saturday, and 11:30 and 9:00 pm on Sunday [more ]

The Church of St. Mary the Victorious ( Kostel Panna Maria Vitězné)

 stars
The Church of St. Mary the Victorious is located at Karmelitská ul (Prague 1, on Mala Strana side, take Metro to Malostranská then trams 12,22,57).

The first ever Baroque church in Prague is more notably known for the Infant Jesus of Prague statue that was brought to Prague in 15th century from Spain. Many believe the said statue has divine powers which should explain the great number of visitors to the church at all times of the year. The church was given to Carmelite monks by Emperor Ferdinand II which turned it into an abbey and gave it name it has nowadays. It was run by the Carmelite monks until 1784. when it became a parish church.

Opening hours are daily from 8:30am until 4:00pm. [more ]
