Climate and travel times

Belgium offers a mild, western European climate with comfortable summers and not too cold winters.  The average temperatures in Belgium range around 13°-23° C (55°-74° F) during the summer months of June through August.  In the winter months December through February, temperatures range from -1 C to +5 C (30° to 23° F).  An exception to this applies to the Ardennes Mountains, where temperatures stay below 0° C (32°F) for 120 days per year.

The best time to travel Belgium is during the summer, from May to October.

Time Zone

Belgium falls into the Central European Time Zone (CET) with European Daylight Savings Time.  There is not difference in time to Germany.

Traffic

In Belgium, the following speed limits apply:  within city limits:  30 or 50 km/h; secondary highways:  90 km/h; Interstates:  120 km/h.  The country’s legal blood alcohol level for drivers of motor vehicles is 0,5 ‰.  The same limit applies to motorcyclists.
