Monument to the Negev Brigade
Almost by chance, I visited the Negev Brigade monument in Beersheba in the spring of 2008. At first, it didn't appear to be much more than a couple slabs of concrete at the top of the hill. After a short climb to the top, I changed my opinion of it.
The structures are actually much larger than you'd expect. They were designed by the sculptor, Dani Karavan over a span of five years in the 60's. If you're brave, you'll find that many of them are climbable and once on the top, serve as a thrilling stage for an amazing view of the Negev Desert. Scattered around the monuments are plaques and recordings explaining the reason for the monument. They serve as remembrance for the Palmach Negev Bridgade who were defeated in the Israeli War of Independence.
Regardless if you're into the historical significance, the short climb the top will supply you with amazing panoramic photos! [more ]
