Old Man Rafferty's
Old Man Rafferty’s is an American style restaurant in New Brunswick. It’s centrally located on Albany Street about 2 or 3 blocks from the New Brunswick train station. It’s a fairly large place, but it’s arranged so it feels fairly intimate. It’s usually crowded on the weekends and in the evenings, but the wait has never been long any time I’ve been. The lighting is low, at least in the evening, which makes it a great place for a date. The staff always seem super busy, but they are fairly conscientious and pleasant. They are well known for their desserts. They are absolutely delicious. A lot of restaurants give you a tiny serving for a load of money. The desserts at Rafferty’s aren’t cheap but the portions are huge. The dessert section actually comes at the front of the menu. They have cheesecakes, pies, cakes, ice cream and more. There is also a section solely for chocolate lovers featuring items like Raspberry Chocolate Truffle and Bailey’s Espresso sponge cake. If you only get one item at Rafferty’s make sure it’s a dessert. You will not regret it! Rafferty’s also has a great wine and drinks list with a load of fun, fruity, and sugary mixed drinks, perfect for a girls night out. That being said, they have a number of different beers on tap and in bottles. The restaurant isn’t the cheapest, but it’s good food and large portions.
