When it comes to night life in Kingston, The Quad is definitely the place to be seen. Located in the business district of New Kingston the Quad is one of Kingston’s hottest night clubs. What is unique is the fact that it is four levels of night clubs hence the name. Each level has a different vibe and concept to appeal to a different genre of patron. . On the first floor there is Christopher’s, a Jazz Bar and Café. This is for a more laid back vibes and usually attracts an older and more sophisticated crowd. Some nights there is live music, you can enjoy a cocktail and finger food while you lounge with friends and listen to the piano or whatever local singer is performing. The second floor is called Oxygen, they usually play a lot of retroactive music, dancehall, disco, alternative. It’s very hip and definitely the most popular floor. The third floor is Voodoo lounge; here you will be able to enjoy old hits and vintage music, mostly reggae. The vibes is slow and easy but not as laid back as Christopher’s. Quad is the first club of its kind in the Caribbean and the beauty about it is that for a fee of about JA$600 (Euro 6, US$10) you can go party hopping from floor to floor. Last but not least is the fourth level which is a bit concealed. Upon entering the Quad you will only be able to count three floors. This is because the fourth club is a Gentleman’s club called Taboo. It is actually on the basement floor and the entrance is at the back. There are nights when ladies are allowed inside as occasionally they have male strippers but for the most part it’s a strip club which showcases a mixture of Jamaican and Ukrainian girls. This level of the club is not very promoted, it’s almost like a secret society but guys if you ask around I’m sure you’ll find a way to get in.
