Pratunam District
Pratunam District is the area surrounding Bangkok’s impressive 88 story Bayoke hotel. It is quite a famous area as it is home to a number of large fashion outlets including the famous pratunam market, but there is more to the area than just this one place. Indeed all of the streets around the area burst into life selling everything from fashion items to fresh fruit and other foodstuffs. Although many tourists are keen to flock to the markets in order to buy cheap goods, I am not sure that it is the only place in Bangkok where you can do so. The prices are cheap, of that there is no doubt, however the savings only appear to be minute and the choice looks not much different to most of the other markets in town. The area itself is often jam packed with traffic, and a one way system (as they always do), makes the traffic much worse. The best way to arrice is on a motorbike or by foot from Ratchchewi BTS staion.. Pratunam can be found at the top end of Bangkok Pethcubrui Road. [more] |

Pratunam in a week
I personally believe that if you sincerely and seriously want to explore every nook and cranny of Pratunam - and not just simply wade through the area like indifferent ghosts - you need a whole week, okay at least 2 - 3 days. There are lots of treasures to see, hold and buy. From authentic Thailand souvenirs - elephants carved on silverplates, etc. , Thai handicrafts, Thai lamps - to (my favorite) clothes, the possibilities are endless. [more] |
