So that’s how you master rail access to Charles De Gaulle airport. Remember to check your terminal number when leaving: there is Terminal 2A, 2B, etc. Also take the RER B express to CDG, not the local. Make sure you get off at the 2nd CDG stop. Take ADP bus line 3 if you are going to Terminal...

Once the bus comes to the stop that says Gare/TGV, get off. You will go down a set of stairs into the terminal. Follow the signs that say RER B. You have to remember that Charles De Gaulle is in zone 5, so you must buy a one-way ticket to Paris. If you want to buy a regular Paris metro pass...

But, you say, how can I take the RER into Paris? If it works going to the airport, then I want to save money and take the train from the airport into the city. Ok. Here’s how you get from Charles De Gaulle airport, Terminal 2A, to Paris, by train. First, you need to get your luggage. Sometimes...

As you stand in line, reflect on your good fortune. You are in the right terminal, and you have verified that you are in the right line for your flight. Soon you will be checking your luggage. The airline employee will be giving you a boarding pass, and telling you what gate to go to. You will...

You have made it on the right bus, and the bus is on its way to Terminal 2A. You can finally relax, right? Not yet. Once you get to Terminal 2A, you need to find the check-in counter for your airline. Upon entering the terminal, there are usually crowds of people and lines, lines and more lines....

Finally you see bus 3 coming. All of the buses that stop at this bus stop have the entrance doors on the opposite side from where you are standing. Once the bus stops, everyone will crowd around, trying to get on the bus and find a seat. If you want to beat the crowd and get a good seat in the...

Once you are in the airport, follow the signs that say Terminal 2A. You will have to go up a few floors by escalator. You will eventually find yourself outside, at a bus stop. A bus stop, you ask? This is Charles De Gaulle airport, and like I said earlier, it is very confusing. The bus will take...

So far, so good. You are on the RER B, express to CDG. You sit back and relax for a minute, thinking of your flight back home and watching the highly industrial landscape of the northern suburbs pass by. But there is another thing to be aware of: CDG has two stops on RER B. The first stop serves...

Some trains that go to Charles De Gaulle go directly to the airport, the last stop before the airport being Gare du Nord. Other trains stop at each station on the way. You want to take the train that goes directly to CDG. The obvious reason is that you will save time. It is much faster to take a...

Looking at your métro and RER map, you will notice that RER B goes to Charles De Gaulle airport, or CDG. But don’t just jump on the train and go. There are a few things to consider. First, CDG is in railway zone 5. The tourist pass that you have been using for the last week won’t work,...

Ok, your vacation is over. You’ve packed your bags, you’ve hidden a couple of bottles of wine in the check-in luggage, and all you want to do now is get to the airport on time and fly home. But you don’t want to pay a fortune for a cab, and you don’t want to sit in a traffic jam on the...

One of the great difficulties of traveling in France is how to get to Terminal 2A at Charles De Gaulle airport from Paris, and likewise, how to get from Terminal 2A to Paris, from the same airport. Why Terminal 2A? This is where a lot of U.S. airlines originate, particularly American Airlines....

As ever in the UK, public transport, whilst very good sometimes, fails completely at others… and since my return trip would ensure that my arrival was late at night I decided that it would be better to have the car waiting for me at the airport. Since I was aware of major road works affecting...
