The New Course
If you're looking for a first class golf experience, but haven't been able to get a tee time on the Old Course, you need look no further than The New Course (New being a relative term; the course was built in 1895). Many would argue that the New Course is in fact a more challenging and better laid out course than its more famous sister course, and at around half the price, it's definitely worth playing. With the added honour of being a course laid out by Old Tom Morris, this course is a joy to play. At times the fairways get quite narrow and the bunkers are difficult, but its well worth the challenge. My favourite hole is definitely the 9th. This hole has it all, a long par 3 with the sea along the left side, thick rough and gorse bushes on the right, and large rolling hills on the fairway. Overall, the New Course is a great golf experience and one you shouldn't miss.
