Take the Risk and Try it out
I usually love eating noodle soups after a stroll at a park. But I don’t always go to parks. Whenever I feel like strolling or nature trekking, I just go to the University of the Philippines (UP.) No, I don’t go there because it’s some kind of a mountain where I can hike; instead, I go to UP because of its fresh air and peaceful surrounding. Just imagine: you, sitting underneath a big Acacia tree and watching people pass by. Or: you, having a picnic with your friends in the middle of a field on a bright, sunless day. I know the pictures are kind of ideal, but they actually happen in UP. After strolling or relaxing, I usually crave for noodle soups. And, that’s the time I go to Ate Fe’s Kitchen. But before getting to this eatery, you need to take risks including your safety and travel convenience especially if you are a newbie in the place. What I can suggest to you is get a cab inside the campus, tell the driver to take you to Maginhawa street, and drop you at Ate Fe’s Kitchen. The eatery’s name is legibly written so don’t worry; you’ll easily find it. I know I have warned you enough of all the problems you might encounter at this place. So, the next step is up to you: take the risks and try it out! [more] |

A Must-try for Curious People
Since I haven’t made a grand description of the place, I’m sure a lot of people who would visit the place are more interested to feed their curiosity than their hungry stomach. Either way, let me set your food expectations. Ate Fe’s Kitchen basically offers rice toppings, noodle soups, and what Filipinos call pansit—which is a serving of tasty dry noodles. But (no matter how surprising it is) I have my own favorites in this rustic eatery and they are chicken mami and fish broccoli rice. Each of these meals is just 50Php. If you do your Math, 50Php is equivalent to a dollar and some cents only; how great does that sound, huh? Ate Fe’s Kitchen also has a variety of drinks—juices, shakes, iced teas, and sodas. Be careful though; I once found an ant taking a cryogenic sleep inside an ice cube in my drink. [more] |

Just Enough for Hungry Customers
Hungry for a deliciously cheap meal? If you happen to be in Quezon City, just get to the University of the Philippines campus. This campus is not only home to the country’s scholars but also to a lot of small and big restaurants. And, one best place I recommend to thrifty travelers is Ate Fe’s Kitchen. I warn you: this is not a big-time restaurant that serves a luxury of food. Instead, it’s just a small place that serves quite good food at very affordable prices. With that being said, it’s safe to say that Ate Fe’s Kitchen is one of the mediocre eateries where you can surprisingly have a delightful gastronomic experience. [more] |
