Droitwich Spa Brine Baths
A friend told me about this, and I thought they were joking- a brine baths in the west Midlands, similar to the Dead Sea! No it is true. Droitwich brine is pumped up from an underground lake, and is 10 times the strength of natural sea water. It is the only place like it in Europe, and I have to say the sensation of floating in the warm , salty water is wierd! I took my mum, (yes I do like Spas!), and we bought a spa ticket for the brine bath and sauna. It cost about 7 pounds for me, tickets reduced for retired people, my mum paid a little over a fiver.
Refreshments were included, a snack and a drink , making it great value for money.
The baths are very, very salty. Try to avoid taking any water into your mouth! And whatever you do, don´t get it into your eyes. Kids can go in, but must be accompanied, and if I was taking mine, I´d make them wear goggles as the water stings like crazy if you do get it in your eyes. The spa is open every day from 11.30am until 9pm, and reduced hours 10am to 4pm at the weekends.
Fantastic opportunity to float in the warm water and relax, even if you can´t afford a trip to the Dead Sea!! [more]
