Baptist Church Gospel Service
When in New York, we visited a beautiful Baptist Church at St. Nicholas Avenue between Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd and Lenox Ave/Malcolm X Blvd not far from Central Park. The gospel service began at ten. An old lady who sat in the entrance followed us inside and showed us where we could take a seat. I had never heard gospel before and everything was such a contrast to the reserved atmosphere in Swedish churches. I can really recommend you to visit a gospel service. Take the subway toward Harlem before 10am on a Sunday morning, go off at 116th Street and choose one of the many Baptist churches in the area. [more] |
