Bridewell Theatre
My favourite “little” theatre of London, the Bridewell is tucked down a narrow side street between Blackfriars tube station and St Bride’s church and is a real hidden gem frequented mostly by local office workers. It is within easy walking distance of Saint Paul's cathedral. The theatre is part of the St Bride’s Foundation which incorporates a exhibition spaces and a library but my top tip is to come for the lunchtime plays that the theatre produces. Aimed at the busy local workers, the plays are designed to fit within a lunch hour and are a chance to sample the theatre in London for a fraction of the cost of the West End. The quality of the performances is always excellent and some really unusual and interesting pieces are often on offer. [more] |
