Renaissance: The Gifts

I haven’t even talked about the custom made weaponry and jewelry, and all the other Renaissance gifts you can take home with you…right down to an actual Renaissance costumes, for women, men, and children. There is also plenty of handmade, period and one of a kind art for everyone who likes to shop. It’s truly hard to avoid buying something to take home with you.

Plan to arrive early. You can spend an entire day here and not see everything. Come eat, drink, and be merry….literally. [more]

Renaissance: The Shows

Yes, the admission cost is a little expensive, but once you realize what there is to do, you recognize that that the price is worth it. There are many things that just happen around you…for instance, there is a parade of actors presenting Queen Elizabeth to visitors that travels through the entire grounds. Many shows similar to this you can interact with. Or you can plan on seeing particular events that continuously run throughout the day, like the jousting tournaments, guys jumping in and eating mud (you have to see it to understand it), and the bird and hawk presentations. These shows of comedy, theatre, historic reenactments and stunt shows are here to entertain you. There is so much going on here it’s almost indescribable. You really need to expect to spend an entire day here…any less amount of time will not suffice. [more]

Renaissance: A Step Back in Time

I have never been to anything like the Bristol Renaissance Faire. As soon as you step into the grounds, you are literally taken through time to the age of the Renaissance. Fantasy does indeed rule here, and what experience is better than that?!

And I have to begin this article by talking about the food…the options are ridiculously endless. There is great, unusual food offerings…stuff that you don't see at your typical outdoor venues. They offer these gigantic turkey legs, and the corn on the cob is so juicy it drips down you chin (the butter helps as well). Keep in mind that the food is a bit expensive…but much of it is well worth it! I promise. [more]
