Punic Harbour, Carthage

3.0 stars

Punic Harbour at Carthage

The Punic Harbour is interesting as a historic site. This is the place from which several wars were launched before the Romans took over in Tunisia, and from which Hannibal took his elephants, which used to be native to Tunisia, before crossing the Alps. The actual harbour is not particularly attractive, but it's interesting from a historical perspective, as well as being an impressive feat of engineering. If you're not particularly interested in the history of this period, however, give it a miss. [more ]
