A great place to wait
OK, so it doesn't help that you've downed four double whiskeys in lieu of a friend you haven't met for six months, but if you're going to wait, Eamonn Dorans is a great place for a stake out. For a start, there's a large covered and uncovered smoking area, which opens each night after 5.30pm down the stairs from Crown Alley, the whiskey is fairly cheap (as discovered by my long-suffering friend), and there is a good range of indie music to set your feet tapping to. If you are really pissed there is an affiliated pizza place on the other side of the bar to soak up sloshy stomach contents (which could be mistaken for the entrance to the pub if you have had more than a whiskey or two). All in all Eamonn Dorans in Temple Bar is great spit and sawdust pub. One that more people should go to (it was dead on a Monday at 4pm) (in Ireland!) (the shame)!! Look out for the red door.
