Why Come Back Over and Over Again?

 stars
If you are a beach lover, you will surely come back to La Luz because of its crystal clear waters. But what if you are not that type of a person, how will you be convinced to go back to La Luz and love it? My answer is simple: serenity and services. I have been to a lot of beach resorts and La Luz is the most tranquil of all. And, this atmosphere allows everyone to have a rejuvenating escape from the city life. What makes this place so peaceful? Unlike in other resorts that cater to a multitude of people, the fact that La Luz is a small resort that has limited rooms makes it exclusive to a number of guests only.

Aside from serenity, La Luz offers the best services ever—from its cool rooms, cozy cabanas, fun activities, and 24/7 customer care area to its sumptuous and abundant buffet table. What else will you look for? Well, if you’re looking for a super party night life at the beach though, La Luz is surely not for you. This resort is only for those who are up for a revitalizing and peaceful beach experience. [more]

Tips on Food

 stars
Who would forget about food in every outing? I bet not you; especially not me. Well, I have bad and good news about the food in La Luz. Let’s talk about the negative first. Unlike ordinary beach resorts in Batangas, La Luz does not allow bringing of food and drinks inside the resort. Regardless of what kind of food you bring, it is not allowed. So, the real bad news there is you can’t bring chips and other junk foods. The good news, however, is that La Luz offers the most delectable buffet-style food in the city. Yes, you’ve heard me right. Buffet is the only way of eating in the resort and the food fee is actually compulsory for every visitor. For a day-trip, the resort charges less than 20USD and for overnight, it becomes less than 25USD. Again, let me remind you: NO BRINGING OF FOOD AND DRINKS INSIDE THE RESORT; unless you know how to hide them. [more]

Caution on Swimming

 stars
Since La Luz is located at the end stretch of Batangas City, I advise all swimmers to be careful with the waters. A friend of mine nearly drowned because of the turbulent of the sea. Here is what happened: our guy pal threw my girl friend in the water. Unexpectedly, she felt that the sea current was pulling her down to the extent that she was nearly drowning. Well, lucky enough, that guy saved my girl friend. On the contrary, I am not saying that you will not enjoy swimming in La Luz. The point of my story is: avoid horseplay at the beach. Just enjoy the sun, the sand, and the sea. Come on! Who likes a tragic getaway? [more]

Camping at the Beachside

 stars
Aside from water adventures, most beachgoers also prepare for camping. It is one activity that is not only commonly done in mountains but also in beaches like La Luz. Why do people camp at the beach? Personally, I and my friends usually camp because we can’t afford the accommodation. Funny but true. We just bring our tents if we don’t have enough money for the room.
But that’s alright because the most exciting part in camping at the beachside is the feel of nature at night. Just imagine: you are lying inside the tent and being lulled to sleep by the sound of the sea. Or if you can’t sleep, you can go outside and have a bonfire while stargazing. How nice!

The only disadvantage of this kind of a trip, however, is that you won’t have private bathrooms so you’ll be using the public ones. But don’t worry! La Luz public comfort rooms are clean.

Well, since I and my friends stayed for three days and two nights, we couldn’t let ourselves be exposed under the sun and the moon all the hours of our trip. That was why we chipped in to get a private room. [more]

You'll Know You're in La Luz When...

 stars
When I arrived in La Luz one summer weekend, it was like being ushered into another world entirely. My companions and I knew we have definitely arrived (literally and figuratively speaking) when we came upon the "whiteness" of the resort—its trademark, I suppose. All the things that you can readily see on the beach—the umbrellas, the deck chairs, the canopies and drapes elegantly dressing the cabanas—are in white. As we were making our way to the accommodation, it was apparent that the ambience is something that one will always look forward to and should not be trampled with; everybody was enjoying their quiet and precious afternoon at the beach, with just soft music playing in the background. Cottages and Rooms

 stars
Just like the other resorts in the area, La Luz puts a premium on solitude and harmony, which can also be reflected in the way the whole place is designed. The resort is host to quite a lot of trees but once you get to the cottages part, you can have your pick among the seven cottages. Though La Luz is not that big, there are 25 rooms to choose from, each complete with its own bathroom, full/queen-size bed, and balcony. Actually, the resort just installed airconditioned rooms based on requests but you can still opt to have a room with the fan/s so you would really enjoy the "nature" aura and the intimacy of the place. The premium rooms are priced at over 100USD but for a group weekend and together with a set of meals, about 80USD per head should be enough (for a group of 10 at least.) [more]

La Luz Beach Resort

 stars
If you want to live it up while soaking under the sun in south Luzon, one of the best destinations for you is the La Luz Beach Resort. Found in Barrio Hugom in San Juan, Batangas, it is the kind of resort that has only taken off in recent years as a popular summer hotspot for the city's "in" dwellers. True enough, when you arrive in the formerly exclusive-for-the-family-only property, you can see that the place is just teeming with beautiful people, having their massages in the open lounge areas or showing off their tanned bodies in newly-bought bikinis and swimsuits. Personally, what I like about the place is that it offers fun activities and a relaxing atmosphere at the same time. [more]

R 'n R ala Luz

 stars
La Luz is not only the haven for those seeking some private time, but is also one of the best sites for swimming and diving. The resort has the nicest and the clearest waters as far as I am concerned and lucky for divers out there, fronts a marine sanctuary so guests could actually go snorkeling and scuba diving (note: for these activities, it's better to bring your own gear). The resort also has rentals for boating, kayak, board games, and volleyball; you can even have services if you want to go hiking in the nearby mountains. But if you've had already too much fun in the sun, you could always chill with a 7USD massage and wait until the nightly bonfire for mingling. [more]

Travel to La Luz

 stars
It is not news that La Luz is located at the very end of the beach stretch in Laiya but the good thing is, the trip there is not as daunting as one might think. One good thing about the resort is that it has enough parking room for your cars, and for your own comfort I suggest you just bring your cars. But if you want to experience more of the bumps and humps of the rural area, there is always the alternative of taking the bus to Lipa or Candelaria. Get a jeepney or tricycle to San Juan Town Market, and from there, it should be a relatively short jeep ride to Barrio Hugom to a getaway that would all be worth the travel. [more]
