Any visit to Cape Town has to, sooner rather than later, end up in Long Street, Cape Town's party strip. One of the longest established bars here is Joburg, ironically named after Cape Town's rival city - Johannesburg.
This compact place is a popular haunt for quirky university students, and is bursting at the seams with character. The interior decor is eclectic, a little bit of '70s funk, with a good dose of velvet. As I said... lots of character. Sometimes Joburg features a live performance.
The place is very popular and can get crowded quickly, so arrive early for a good seat, and to get the inevitably busy bar man/lady's attention. [more ]
