Flying on the roller coaster at Prater
I could never get tired of roller-coaster rides, so in every city I visited in Europe, I hunted down the amusement park. In Vienna, it’s called Prater and was a little odd to visit, because we went in the middle of the week and during the day, so there was hardly anyone about, which was also sort of good because we pretty much had the rides to ourselves. Prater has a really exciting small roller coaster. It’s a lying down/standing up roller coaster, so when you’re doing sharp turns and anti-gravity climbs you feel like you’re flying and by the end of the ride the adrenalin has reached all the parts it needs to. The day came to a fitting end at the Prater pub/restaurant with some excellent traditional Viennese food and a big mug of dark ale. [more] |
