A multicultural and colorful market experience
Port Louis market was a crazy place, filled with multicultural shops filled with colours. food of all kinds and tastes, hundreds of small shops selling traditional food and souvenirs. Like many street markets all shop attendants tried to get your attention which once again can be overwhelming. but here I could really experience the wide mix and variety of Mauritius culture from the basics. This open air market can get a bit too much specially during busy hours. My favorite area was the spices & herbs shops with homemade oils and traditional remedies. The market used to be an indoor place but there was a fire and only the gates remain now. [more] |
