Begravelsesplads: a cemetery in Løgumkloster
Begravelsesplads is a cemetery in Løgumkloster which is nowadays mostly for tourists. The graves are very old, and mostly from the 18th century. I think Begravelsesplads was used for some rich families, because there are only a couple family names. And mostly the same family names on some tombstones. I don’t think they still function this area anymore; otherwise it would be too small. Begravelsesplads is located in front of the monastery of Løgum (Løgumkloster). This cemetery lies in front of two sides of the monastery. And if you want to get inside the monastery (a church now), you have to pass through the graves. Not only are the graves in the front of the monastery, but they spread to the right, left and even to the back side of the monastery. [more] |
