Palette Town, Tokyo

4.0 stars

An aerial view of Tokyo

Palette Town, where the Giant Wheel is located, is one of Tokyo’s liveliest spots. The area looks like a giant mall but is full of entertainment options, from traditional rides such as Go-Karts to virtual reality, giant video games and casino-like entertainment. The wheel itself is a great attraction, especially if you want an aerial look of Tokyo. While there are other wheels in the city, this is definitively the one with the best location. It’s also the most expensive, at USD10.

There are basically two ways to ride the wheel: on the standard gondolas or on the glass ones (which have a floor made of glass, so you can look directly down). There are over 50 regular gondolas on the wheel but only 5 glass ones, so be prepared to wait quite a while in line if you’re choosing this option. The ride itself takes about 10 minutes and I definitively recommend taking it at night for a really nice view of Tokyo nightlights. [more ]
