This museum is rather big for a museum that was planned to be a simple museum. It was constructed to present the history of a city but developed into a museum of international interest. The part of the museum that presents modern art to its visitors has become famous. The modern art gallery covers the 19th and 20th century, some art of the 21th century can be seen too. Different collections are important and show a museums intent to be more than a shrine for worshipping certain artists. Maybe that is the reason that a part of the museum is dedicated to history and its development. You can view items of the Middle Ages as well as contemporary things.
