Lakes of the Clouds
This high alpine lake sits on the south flank of Mount Washington at 5,000 feet. The AMC (Appalachian Mountain Club ) runs a hut here where you can sleep in a bunk for slightly less than a hundred dollars or you can day hike to this beautiful location. The view is fantastic from this lofty spot and it is a great spot for exploring the high alpine flanks of Mount Washington, where you will find numerous alpine gardens. Note that the hut is often booked full during the summer, so you have to make reservations through the AMC in advance, if you want to spend the night. [more] |
