Massage Parlours and Schools in Bangkok
Scattered throughout Bangkok, especially in the areas around Chinatown and the flower market, are a series of Thai massage parlours offering everything from reflexology to full body massages. After a hot, dirty day in Bangkok, our feet were coated with dust and we were quite tired and sore. We stumbled upon a Thai massage school quite by accident, and after seeing the price ($6 per person), we decided that an hour of reflexology wouldn’t go amiss. It was a wonderful experience: the students bathed our feet with jasmine water, warmed them with hot towels, massaged away the stress and calluses, and relaxed my travelling companion so much that he actually fell asleep and started snoring, much to their amusement! We emerged rejuvenated and ready for several more hours of wandering the city, as testament to their skill. I highly recommend taking time out to enjoy one of these massages, at least once, if not several times. The prices are right, especially outside of the big tourist hotels and resort areas, and this type of relaxation is not something you’re likely to find elsewhere amid the hustle and bustle of this crowded city.
