Safari World 5 stars
Travel Tip: Safari World

Safari World was certainly a fun place to go to for a day out. This large wildlife park lies not too far from Bangkok’s Fashion Island mall at the end of Ramindra road. I arrived early and there was ample parking. Inside, Safari World has two distinct areas, a zoo in the centre which had many... [more]

Trying to find the place! 4 stars
Safari World Chapter of Travel Blog: A mystery day in Bangkok.

After three more kilometers of driving and no sign of the place, another Safari World sign loomed up which took us onto a large motorway and then along a quiet but wide residential road which contained entrances to a number of hi-society housing developments and a large golf course. Unfortunately... [more]

The sign for Safari World 4 stars

I had no prior knowledge of this particular place but it looked to be quite close. Indeed the sign stated that it was around 1 km ahead, and so we decided to follow the sign and see if it was still open as it was already quite late. I had in mind that this might be some sort of modern zoo, with... [more]

Safari Park on a cab 2 stars
Travel Tip: Safari World

Yes, you could drive thru Safari Park's 7km area in a cab. You could hail one in Bangkok and it would directly drive you to Safari World and thru Safari Park. You could also feed the animals from a cab. Apparently, the animals couldn't tell the difference. We saw an Indian couple do this, we... [more]

Safari Park is a drive-through park. You have the option to rent a car and drive thru the area to your heart's content as lions, zebras, bears, ostriches, giraffes pass by you or you pass by them. We used a tourist van with the help of a friendly Thai driver who paced the vehicle just right... [more]

Safari Park, Marine Park 2 stars
Travel Tip: Safari World

Take note that Safari World's Marine Park and Safari Park requires separate entrance tickets for each. The former is for sea creatures, the latter for jungle animals. Our travel package took care of both so we didn't have to worry about that detail. [more]

There is also a show in Safari World's Marine Park but it involves seals and dolphins. They go through hoops, jump up the water, make people laugh, etc. My observation though is that the pool these animals are swimming in seems too small especially for the dolphins. It almost made me feel... [more]

Safari World's orangutan post-show 2 stars
Travel Tip: Safari World

After the show, you have the option to stay further on to have a meet and greet with the show's stars - the orangutans. They are a friendly bunch. They shake your hands, you get to touch them. One orangutan handler even handed me an orangutan baby. I carried it like a human baby. It felt like a... [more]

The show involved two orangutans dressed in boxing shorts and gloves. They were inside a boxing ring in the center of a stage as an expectant audience - us and children alike - waited in bated breath as to what would happen. As it turns out, the orangutans exchanged choreographed punches and... [more]

Our tour van driver made sure we would enjoy our day tour. But before that he said we'll have lunch first. We first stopped by a market which sold vegetables. He got out of the van and bought a bag of green leafy vegetables. I thought that would be our lunch. It turned out, that is what we... [more]

How to get to Safari World 4 stars
Travel Tip: Safari World

We went to Safari World via a tour van which regularly would be filled with tourists but lucky for us, we were the only ones aboard and so enjoyed the van & its complementary driver, all to ourselves. But Safari World could similarly be reached via taxi, as shown by an Indian couple we saw ride... [more]

Safari World is located 10 km northeast of downtown Bangkok. Our travel package included a day tour of Safari World and so our tour guide made sure we woke up early enough for the drive from the Park Hotel to Safari World's 10am opening time. The package also included a buffet lunch. [more]
