Catcliffe Glass Kiln, Rotherham

Catcliffe Glass Kiln, er, Cone?

It wasn't until after we returned to London that I was informed about the Catcliffe Glass Kiln, which is, according to word-of-mouth, an old building that is, quite literally, shaped like a cone. I was shown an old Polaroid photo by my mate who had visited an odd number of years back and now I've made a point to visit once we return to Yorkshire in November! It was incredible-looking, apparently made of primal brick, large at ground level and steadily decreasing in size to form a small, flat area at the top where a point would normally be on any other cone. I had never seen anything like it! According to others who have visited, there's no entry fee. [more]
