Berkeley Marina - ready to sail?
Berkeley is mostly famous for its academic ambience – the university and some hippy-ways still in the air. All the cafés and restaurants around the university, the big bell tower (Sather Campanile), the night life and its many bars and dancing arenas – all the cosmopolitism of an international crowd of students as well. San Francisco is just across the Bay, the entire coast to explore – sure all that is Berkeley.
Most of my visits to Berkeley though occurred due to the marina – since I am particularly fond of sailing. There you can learn to sail, kayak, windsurf, or just meet people that will take you sailing across the Bay, or even be part of regatta teams.
The fish restaurants in the area are also quite good – so the marina is clearly my favorite place in Berkeley! [more ]
