Hatters Cafe fine dining appeal without the price
Hatters Cafe in Katoomba, NSW, Australia is more than casual dining, they have a fine dining appeal without the price. They have Italian influence in the dishes with many wheat and gluten free choices on the menu.
They are open 8:00-5:00 seven days a week, except on Sundays they close at 4:00. It is fully licensed and accepts all cards. Their parking is along Katoomba Street or at the Coles/Kmart lot. They are on the bus line and the train station is at the other end of the street. Just a hop and skip from the YHA.
Entrees run from $7.80-$13.50, mains $14.50-$24.80, desserts $4.80-$8.80. They have a kid’s menu of different pastas, calamari, nuggets and fish with chips and salad, but no activities to entertain them while waiting. There are vegetarian choices such as linguini pasta with pancetta mushroom and Pesto or the mushroom risotto. The house special is Rosti, a grated potato cakes with salad and seeded mustard cream. The dessert of my choice is Cerise Noir: chocolate, hazelnut and black cherry torte with cream.
There is an extensive list of wines, beer and spirit choices for the pleasure. It is very spacious inside with beautiful setup on the tables. There are many seats outside on the sidewalk too. There are a couple of small steps into the cafe, but the restrooms are very large to accommodate handicap access. [more ]
