Butterfly Island – gorge walk and butterfly spotting!
Butterfly Island is usually accessible by boat and is the first stop on the boat trip from either Fethiye or Olu Deniz. On arrival there is a slightly hippy happy-go-lucky feel to the island as there are various campsites set up, arty stalls and funky gifts and clothes to purchase. The beachfront is beautiful and it is possible to pay a small fee and walk the scenic route (approximately 2 Km) to the gorge on a quest for beautiful butterflies. The multi-coloured butterflies are stunning and it is also possible to spot goats grazing and roaming on the mountain tops above. The gorge leads up and beyond to a refreshing waterfall, where you can take a shower before descending back down to the beach. The less able can swim and sunbathe on the scenic beach. [more] |
