The Original Pantry
The Original Pantry is a favourite amongst mainly the local clubbers who, after a night full of music, dancing and partying, feel the need to grab a bite to eat before they sleep well into the late afternoon on that very same day. You'll find your average bookworm and early worker here, as well, grabbing a cup of coffee before heading towards whatever the day may bring.
This cafe has been around since the early 1920's, serving up hot, fresh breakfast meals since the very first day their doors opened. A typical breakfast served here will consist of a huge stack of hotcakes, a big slab of sweet cured ham, homemade fries and a cup of coffee. Famous for quantity rather than quality, the Original Pantry serves huge T-Bone steaks, densely-packed meatloaf, macaroni and cheese and other American favourites to an already overfed crowd. The menu itself is a chalkboard hanging on the wall, by the way.
Creamy coleslaw and sourdough bread come free with every meal and a bowl of celery stalks, carrot sticks and whole radishes will greet you at your Formica table, no matter what time you come in, which reminds me: they're open twenty-four hours a day, every day. The only downside about this cafe is that they only accept cash. [more ]
