Eastown
Eastown features an eclectic set of great cafes, clubs, restaurants, and shops. In addition, the area has several good used bookstores and comic book shops. It is also home to the famous Yesterdog. Eastown is sandwiched between the affluent neighborhoods of East Grand Rapids to the east, with some of Grand Rapids’ least privileged neighborhoods to the west. The juxtaposition of the adjoining neighborhoods has lent Eastown with a fantastic quirky vibe. It is certainly one of West Michigan’s most bohemian places and an especially popular destination for those more creatively oriented. I’ve seen preppy high school kids, heavily tattooed and pierced couples, and older transients, all sitting with in a few feet of each other in one the neighborhood cafés. [more] |
