The Ardealul Hotel
The Ardealul Hotel in Arad was built in 1840 by Franz Mahler, a well known local architect. The Hotel was at first a Stage Coach stop; I guess they didn’t find the wireless network back then. Soon after that it became an inn and the home of Franz Liszt, Johann Strauss jr., Johannes Brahms and the famous celo player, Pablo Casals. The rooms might seem a bit 1840s for those who enjoy luxurious hotels but i didn’t expect to have my hands in a glass sink with golden tap. The beds are extremely comfortable, at the reception I was told that the matresses are stuffed with dry algae, a technique they don’t use anymore at present. [more] |
