The Church of St. Augustin

 stars
The Church of St. Augustin can be found on Augustinerstrasse 3 (take U-Bahn to Herrengasse). This church situated on the west side of the Imperial palace built between 1330 and 1339 served as a starting point for imperial family on their pilgrimages, jubilee processions and funeral ceremonies. However, it is more widely known as the church where emperor Franz Joseph I married Sissi. In the church there are also 2 organs that added additional prestige for the church in the music world – Schubert conducted his Mass in F, but also Bruckner premiered his Mass in F minor. In the Loreto chapel there are Herzgruft where 54 hearts of Habsburg are kept in silver urns. [more]
