I stayed at camp Jolly in Venice since it was one of the cheapest places in Venice to stay. For 13 Euros I stayed in a five person dorm room. It was comfortable, they had a heating unit in case it got too cold at night. They offer internet access for 5 euros per hour which is actually cheaper than most places on the island. The camp offers a shuttle directly to Venice for 2 euros each way, but if you take public transportation it will only cost 1 euro. One thing to remember is that tickets cant be purchased on the bus, rather look for a shop with a large T on it. These shops sell the bus tickets for one euro each way. I learned the hard way by jumping on the bus without a ticket, but couldnt get one from the driver.
Camp Jolly is not easy to find, so I would recommend asking around the neighbor, everyone in the area knew where it was and showed me how to get there. [more ]
