Mighty Metro

 stars
For me, the Paris metro is probably one of the best underground systems in the world. It could not be easier. The tickets are great value, either weekly, daily or monthly, and the only drawback is that it closes at midnight. This wouldn't be a problem, except the city doesn't really get started in the evenings til after 10pm, so you spend your time trying to organise what your doing around how you plan to get home. But by day it is really efficient, and in 30minutes you an be anywhere you want. [more]

Paris Metro

Paris metro is a very useful way of transportation. It was built in the beginning of the 20-th century and it is amazing how it can continue to successfully transport this increased number of passangers more than a century later. Probably because it is that old all the stations and trains are very small and situated closely to one another. Exception of this rule is the Chatelet station, where so many lines meet that they need really long tunnels to connect. All the metro entrances are decorated in Art Noveau style and this gives Paris one of its many charms. [more]

Paris Métro Pass.

 stars
If you plan to take a trip to Paris, it is essential that you buy a métro pass for the time you are here. Traffic in the French capital is horrendous, parking is non-existent, and if you drive you will spend as much time getting lost as you will getting to your destination. Taxis? Forget it. Too expensive. The métro system – the Paris subway – on the other hand, is fast, efficient and cheap, and will take you from one end of Paris to the other safely and with a minimum of effort. Go to any métro stop, go to the ticket counter, and buy a Paris visite card. This does not require a photo, and is valid for 1, 2, 3 or 5 days. You can buy a ticket for zone 1-3 or zone 1-6, which costs more, but is handy if you will be making several trips outside of Paris, such as to Versailles. The other good thing about the Paris visite card is that it is independent of the day of the week. It starts the day you buy it. You have unlimited use of the card on the métro, the bus, and the RER, up to the number of days that you bought. Get a métro map when you buy your ticket, and you are ready to navigate Paris with ease! [more]
