A Museum in the tower
I've been in Sighisoara several times, but now was the only time when I got the opportunity to get up in the tower. and i had the amazement of a young child. the museum is so interesting that I gasped all the time looking at the medieval pieces put in an ethnic space. Being fond of alchemy, I was overwhelmed to see medieval pieces of chemistry, homeopathy, and long shaped Berzelius-alike glasses used for different researches of that time. the museum also holds an impressive collection of objects belonging to every type of school based in the Medieval Sighisoara, from the shoemakers to the copper workers. unfortunately the photo tax seemed to expensive to me, so I only have images of the tower exterior... it s a must see if you love medieval times. Clock Tower
The Clock Tower is one of Sighisoara's main tourist attraction. It is one of the oldest buildings in town and therefore one of the most impressive. Its initial function was that of place for municipal meetings and it also served as the entrance gate to the town of Sighisoara.The tower was initially built somewhere in the 14th century, but it was unfortunately destroyed several times, because of fires and riots. What we get to see today is the last construction, dating from 1894, which has preserved its initial style. I liked climbing inside the tower, even if I'm a bit claustrophobic. It hosts the town's museum, which I didn't find very interesting, but it's worth seeing once you're there. [more] |
