Sheraton Hotel and Resort in Abu Dhabi
We spent a full day at the swimming pool cooling off and enjoying very strong margaritas at the swim up bar. Around lunchtime, we ordered hamburgers on the patio and ended up eating what tasted like shoe with a side of soggy potatoes. We were distracted from the horrible food by an extremely animated server who seemed much more interested in entertaining us. Here, and in Turkish resorts as well I noticed, the hotels hire these guys who my sister and I call “cool dudes”. The “cool dudes” are usually young, good looking guys who are paid by the hotel to just hang around the swimming pool and be the life of the party. It seems these guys are trained or somewhat trained to get people pumped up and feeling cool and like they are really on vacation with the best of them-like hanging out at the pool is just one big party! We were endlessly entertained by the “cool dudes” just because the whole thing seemed so absurd. I am not sure what kind of training program they go through but it seems like a Hard Rock Café meets Club Med type deal. They spent a lot of time high fiving and back slapping each other, playing loud music and flirting with the Europeans. I found it to be hilarious. [more] |

Sheraton Hotel and Resort - Abu Dhabi
I had a recent opportunity to go to the Sheraton hotel and Resort in Abu Dhabi and this is certainly a good choice of hotel to stay at due to its location. It overlooks the Arabian Gulf and by day you can enjoy the resort’s large pool and other facilities. But it is the lobby area that remains most memorable. It is exquisitely decorated and makes you feel that you are in a place of true quality as soon as you enter the hotel. The restaurants are also of very high quality. Indeed, nothing has been left to chance and I would recommend coming to the Sheraton just to experience how a 5* hotel should be! [more] |

Nail Salon/ Abu Dhabi
My sister had I also frequented the nail salon inside the Sheraton Hotel and Resort in Abu Dhabi which is right across the hall from their hair salon and while the quality of the manicure and pedicure was totally acceptable, I nearly walked out on crutches-it was by far the most pain I have ever been through for a beauty routine and that’s including waxing experiences! They seem to have a different attitude toward beauty and pain and that is that you can’t have one without the other. The salon also offers all kinds of services from eyelash dying and curling, facial and body waxing, massage, and facials. [more] |
