Jama - Rock 'N Roll Atmosphere & Great Food!
A good atmosphere makes all the difference in a restaurant and this is definitely true of Jama in Prague. I first visited Jama in 2005 having just arrived in the city and instantly felt at home. Being a huge music fan I was intrigued by the many band and tour posters up on Jama’s walls, from Janis Joplin to R.E.M. and everything in between! The waitresses and bar staff are sociable, obliging and extremely pleasant. Jama’s alternative ambience is a welcome change from the generic pubs and cafés cropping up around Wenceslas Square as Prague becomes a more popular tourist destination. The food is also incredible. Jama boasts the Best Burger 2004 award, and although I wouldn’t know as a vegetarian, my brother agrees! The menu contains a lot of Mexian style food like burritos but you can also sample some traditional Czech food here too. As a veggie I’m often very critical of the non-meaty options because so many restaurants regard salad for starter and salad for main course as acceptable alternatives. This couldn’t be further from the truth in Jama. The vegetarian burrito is absolutely delicious and the stilton and broccoli potato skins could be a meal in themselves. In fact all the portions are huge while the prices are pretty tiny! They stock an excellent variety of beers, although personally I recommend a Pilsner Urquell, you are in Prague after all! [more] |
