The Magic of Lanterns - Montreal
I love this festival too, too much! Every year, in the Botanical Garden of Montreal, at the Chinese Garden to be exact, there is always an event held called The Magic of Lanterns. This event started for the first time back in 1999. Each year, this event always has different interesting theme such as Temple of Heaven, Junks and Sampans, The 12 Animals of the Chinese Zodiac, and you definitely do not want to miss this kind of amazing event. As this event is always related to Chinese celebration, each year’s theme or design is always about Chinese culture and people. Many shapes of lanterns ranging from animals, flowers, building structure or even traditional boat of Chinese and a character of a Chinese person either female or male, an adult or a child can always be found here. With colorful lanterns, when the day light has gone, you will see a spectacular “rainbows” at night which is very amusing to see. You surely would like to take the whole family with you to see this festival. While waiting until the night comes to see the best of the lanterns, you can wonder around the Chinese Garden. The gift shop, the water lily ponds, and the bonsai garden are amongst the other things that you can visit and see while at the Chinese Garden. If you are lucky enough, you will be entertained by this beautiful young Chinese woman playing authentic instrument in the main pavilion. Don’t forget to bring a little snack and drink if you are with your kids, but if you do, not to worry, there is always Chinese mooncake and warm tea sold next to the main pavilion!
