Parque Sesi, Canela

Camping in Canela - Sesi Park

There are bad campsites, there are good campsites and then there are wonderful campsites. The campsite at Parque Sesi, in the Serra Gaucho town of Caneal, is one of the latter. Friendly and helpful reception staff greeted us and were happy to guard our laptop, gave us detailed information about the park and pointed us in the direction of the camping area. This is a lovely, wooded park, and each camping spot had its own barbeque area, electricity point and shared showers/toilets, along with good picnic tables and clothes washing facilities - big sink, washing lines...the toilets were spotlessly clean and the park beautiful - flocks of sheep ran around the site day and night - we stayed four nights here and I soon ceased to become alarmed at being woken in the middle of the night by the sound of hooves charging by the tent. There's an indoor football pitch here and at the weekend the site became busy with schoolkids taking part in an inter-state competition, but the rest of the time we had it virtually to ourselves. You can also rent cabins here - they looked pretty spacious and comfortable. The price per person in a tent was just Rs$8 - bargain! [more ]
