Tai Buffet, London

3.0 stars

Tai Buffet, Soho

Thai Buffet is a restaurant that has branches at several spots in the city. There is one at 3 Chapel Street near Tottenham Court Road, one at 32 Goodge Street near Goodge Street, one at Hanover Square close by Oxford Street, one at 6 Kentish Town Road near Camden Town and then there’s the one we went to at 10 Greek St nearby Tottenham Court Road. This Tai Buffet was open daily from noon to 10pm.

We came here one weekday at 6pm, the place was completely empty. Tai Buffet is definitely busier during the lunch, it's easy to see why people choose Tai Buffet. The interior is cozy, the atmosphere is peaceful (at least in the evenings with lit candles on the tables), the staff is courteous and friendly, the food is really good, and the prices won’t make anyone raising an eyebrow.

Tai Buffet’s all ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT buffet for £5.00 is rather popular, they also have one LUNCH & ALL DAY for £6.00 (I forgot to ask what that really meant), and one DINNER SUNDAY for £3.00. Whatever you choose you can make your own box which is standard at most restaurants with the same (or a similar) concept. The buffet includes noodles, tofu, rice, many salad dishes, soya chicken (that almost looks like real chicken), soya lamb, soya beef and spring rolls.
I can’t do anything else than recommend this place. [more ]

A vegetarian option in the heart of London

Walking along the central London, in the region of Soho, I have discovered a vegetarian restaurant with oriental food. Tai of Soho offers a menu of vegetarian Thai and Chinese dishes for either eat-in or take away. I am not vegetarian, however, I liked the simple food, made with vegetables and soya products ( my highlight is for the Spring rolls. Delicious!).You can eat whatever you want in a fixed price (£5.50 lunch/ £6.50 Sundays & Evenings). They also serve fruit salad included in the price. The restaurant is quite simple, but looks clean. The interesting is that the staff prepares some dishes in front of the customers. Tai is good. [more ]
