Old Bakery Museum
Old Bakery Museum is located at Lange Gasse 34 (take tram number 46 to Strozzigasse). I do love finding these off-beat dinky museums and I have managed to find one in every place I have visited so far. In Vienna you can find the Old Bakery Museum which was home to a bakery from 1701. until 1964. As the bakery was never modernized in its 300 years, you can see the original ovens as well as number of utensils that were used in that period. There are drawings depicting how bakers conducted their daily business and it truly feels like the time has stood still. The building itself is now home to Alte Backstube restaurant which serves traditional Viennese dishes and delicacies. So after a walkabout in the Museum you can treat yourself to a coffee or a meal in the upstairs restaurant. The admission to the museum is free. [more] |
