Palace square
That's a great square in front of Hermitage museum. When I was a teenager I loved to hang out there with my friends on the steps of the Alexander's Column in the middle. At the moment these stairs are closed to the public. There is a small fence around it. I guess they made it because of the constant vandalism. The view from the square is wonderful: on one side there is the facade of Hermitage and on the other - the Triumph Arch which leads to Nevsky avenue. This winter they've opened a skating rink right on the square. I would say in some way all the booths with food and drinks are kind of spoiling to scenery, but it must be really cool to skate surrounded by all this beauty. [more] |
