Munching Through The Menu At Toberua
All meals on Toberua Island are announced with the pounding of a lali (Fijian drum). Being such a small island, I could hear it from wherever I happened to be. I never lacked for anything good to eat while at the resort. We had an accommodation plan that included all of our meals, so the cost was not a consideration. Since I'm a vegetarian I was somewhat concerned that my food preferences would be a problem. Not to worry. The chefs were very accommodating and creative with the meals they prepared. Breakfast was generally buffet style fruits, juices, tea, rolls and cereals. Hot breakfasts were cooked to order. Lunch and dinner were always over the top. Staff members would come by before each of the meals and discuss the daily choices. The only problem was my tendency to over order – I could never possibly eat everything put before me. The food was always fresh and delicious. If I skipped a meal it made no difference. I could enjoy small snacks usually around 10 am and 4 pm when tea was served on the bar front patio. [more] |
