Monument: Golden Gate

 stars
One of the most famous tourist attractions in Poland is Golden Gate. The monument was raised in 1612-1614 and replaced the Gothic Gate. Wieza Wiezienna, Brama Wyzynna and Golden Gate form part of the Gdansk City Fortifications. This gate is a representative monument of the city located on Long Lane, and is also considered a true symbol of Dutch manierism. On both sides of the Golden Gate you can find figures that symbolize people’s qualities like: Peace, Freedom, Wealth, Fame, Agreement, Justice and some others. These have been here for a long time but they still apply to the modern world. The inscription on the gate also made me think of how alike people are:”In agreement republics grow, because of disagreements empires fall”. [more ]
