This is a hotel/resort attached to a diving school on the rapidly developing Dhahab coast line. Most people staying here were divers and the atmosphere was as tranquil and relaxed as the Red Sea coast it is built on. The staff are friendly and accommodating and never once tried to push tours or diving trips on me as nearly every other hotel I stayed in during my trip through Egypt seemed to. The basic but clean rooms complete with a big nosy fan cost only €2.50 a night and the shared bathrooms were clean with salty showers.
The attached restaurant, which is actually built on the shore of the Red Sea, was exceptional value and worth a visit even if you aren’t staying at the hotel. This is the perfect place to sit out on cushions in the evening and sip a Raki and listen to the waves. The only thing that could possibly spoil the serenity is the hundreds of cats that lurk around the restaurant (as they do everywhere in Egypt it seems). If you like cats though, I suppose that’s a plus. If you don’t the waiters have a few empty bottles of window cleaner filed with water lying about that you can borrow. It really is great fun squirting the devious little felines that venture too close to your dinner.
This really was a wonderful place to stay. I’ll attach a few pictures to convince you if you’re still in doubt. [more ]
